Dawn and afternoon game drives. Visit Lugard's Falls on the Galana River and Mudanda Rock - where elephants congregate in their hundreds. Strong chance of Big Five sightings. Overnight Tsavo East.
Morning drive through Tsavo West - visit the magical Mzima Springs with its underground hippo viewing chamber. Then continue to Amboseli National Park, arriving for a late afternoon game drive under Kilimanjaro. Overnight Amboseli.
Full Amboseli day - dawn drive for cloud-free Kilimanjaro views, visit Observation Hill, Enkongo Narok swamp. Home to Africa's most studied elephant population - get up close to massive tuskers. Optional Maasai village. Overnight Amboseli.
Transfer north into the Great Rift Valley to Lake Nakuru National Park. Famous for its flamingo clouds and rhino sanctuary. The lake turns pink with over a million flamingos at peak season. Nakuru also has lions, leopards, baboons, and the rare Rothschild's giraffe. Overnight Nakuru lodge.
Morning game drive in Nakuru then drive to the legendary Maasai Mara National Reserve - Kenya's crown jewel and home of the Great Migration. Arrive for a golden hour afternoon game drive. The Mara's open grasslands teem with lions, leopards, cheetahs, elephants, and wildebeest. Overnight Mara lodge/camp.
Dawn game drive in the Mara - the best chance for big cat sightings and, in season, the Great Migration river crossings. After breakfast, begin the long but rewarding drive back to the Kenyan coast.
